"1408" nothing special

I happen to catch a showing of Stephen King's "1408" with John Kusack and Samuel Jackson and all I got to say is - it's nothing special. Sure, the camera angles were cool. Sure, the backstory was cool. The problem was the frontstory, the plot and character developement never took off. We - like John Kusack - are stuck in a room wondering when one of our many questions will be answered. However, unlike typical movies which resolve questions in the audience by plot-movement, dialogue or character developement - King's movie seems way too much like Open Water. Unsure of any real direction to go; yet seeming to just tye us over with weirder and weirder encounters until the inevitable conclusion that everyone saw coming.
